Our Father in Heaven

Message Notes:

The Lord’s Prayer falls in the middle of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount — communicating that it is “central to everything we do for Jesus.”

Jesus’ teaching about prayer:

•Matthew 6:1 — a generalized statement 

•Matthew 6:5-8 — general teaching about prayer

•Matthew 6:9-13 — The Lord’s Prayer

Focus for this message: 

•Matthew 6:9 — “Our Father who is in heaven.”

•It is “simple and short”

•We tend to recite it too quickly — not thoughtfully

•Because of that, we tend to miss deeper aspects of the prayer.

•We must learn to prayerfully interact with every word and line within the prayer.
