Soul Care - Soul Training
Family/Group Discussion
Nico believes that a source of a lot of our issues is an “I.C.E. Age” or a “Identity Crisis Epidemic.”
•How are people identifying themselves today?
•Is that how God identifies us?
Anxiety and depression can make it difficult to see ourselves as God sees us.
•Is there anything in your life that prevents you from remembering that you are made in the image of God?
Read Psalm 77:1-9
The pattern in which we respond to hardship is often “Trouble>Feelings>Thoughts”
•What is your typical emotional response to trouble?
•How do those feelings affect how you feel about yourself, others, and God?
The Psalmist in 77:7-9 begins to doubt God and his faith because of his feelings.
•How is this similar to people abandoning the Christian faith in 2023?
Read Philippians 4:6-9
Paul prescribes those who are anxious with a practice of focusing on God’s good deeds and traits.
•What good things did God do that early Christians could celebrate?
•What good things has God done in your life that you can celebrate and focus on?
•Why is it so easy for us to forget these things at times of hardship?
Read Psalm 77:10-20
The Psalmist has a complete change of attitude when he remembers the goodness of God.
•What is bigger and greater: your troubles or your God?
Take some time to pray for a change of heart and mind. Pray that God helps you remember of HIS power, might, goodness, love and mercy, in the midst of your troubles.
