Greed

Discussion Questions:

Greed and materialism are “close cousins.” Luke 12:15 indicates there are multiple versions or variations of greed (“Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.”) Do you struggle with any special obsessions — money; clothing; shoes; cars; houses; etc.?

Have any of your financial obsessions made it difficult for you to be generous toward God, His kingdom or others around you who may be in need?

Consider Byron’s comment in the “notes:”   What we need to overcome greed in our lives is a “Zacchaeus style experience.” — a new desire to love, honor and serve Jesus (first and most — Matt 6:24); Learn contentment (1 Tim 6:6-8); a new heart of generosity (Lk 19:8-9)
