Anxious Mind
Message Notes:
Byron begins his message with the story about Jesus and His disciples on the Sea of Galilee during a violent storm:
•Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41; Luke 8:22-25
•Disciples frightened; called out to Jesus for help.
•Jesus calmed the storm and waves.
Question: Why were the disciples frightened/anxious?
•The disciples were anxious for Two Reasons:
•(1) because of the “storm” around them
•(2) Most Importantly: because they forgot “Who” was in the boat with them.
Key Point: God has not promised us a life without storms, but, He has promised to help us, and walk with us, and hold our hands during the storm.
•Our God: “will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
We live in an anxious society (series of studies):
•(2024) — 43% Americans more anxious than last year
•(2025) — 67% 0f all Americans are “very or somewhat anxious” about current world events
•Even more — from the American Institute on Stress — 75% of Americans report physical and/or emotional symptoms related to stress.
Four “Killers of our Souls:”
•Worry, Anxiety, Stress and Fear.
Key Passage: Philippians 4:4-7; Philippians 4:11-13
