2 Peter 1:3-11

Introduction

•Steadfastness (hupomone) is more than just enduring hardship—it is a forward-looking endurance. Or endurance with courage.

•Example: Jesus in Hebrews 12:2 – “For the joy set before him, he endured the cross.”

Steadfastness is Necessary for the Christian Life

•Matthew 5:11-12 – We are blessed when we endure persecution.

•Our endurance in trials is a testimony to the world.

Suffering is not abnormal -It is Part of the Christian Journey

•1 Peter 4:12-14 – Do not be surprised by trials; rejoice in sharing Christ’s sufferings.

•Through trials, we realize our faith is stronger and Christ is more trustworthy.

Trials Produce Spiritual Maturity

•James 1:2-4 – Trials produce steadfastness, leading to a mature faith.

•The road to full faith goes through suffering.

Our Steadfastness is Rooted in Christ’s Strength

•Romans 8:37 – We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

•We endure because Christ is our foundation, not our own strength.

•Our steadfastness is in Christ alone—He is our hope and firm foundation.
